Team Fortess 2 Greybox Map - TECity Takeover

DESCRIPTION
This was a school assignment in my third year of the Game Design program, of a greybox level in TF2. The designers were challenged with making a map in any engine for any game. This project was my second attempt at making a level for a FPS multiplayer game, but was my first introduction to Hammer.

Having never played TF2 or not really knowing much about it, creating a level that accounted for every class and their specific playstyles was something I had to learn very quickly. I also had to get familiar with the capabilities of the Hammer level editor, which was difficult but rewarding in its own right. This map was created for the King of the Hill mode as a 3v3 scenario, so the small map size was to ensure the level had a good balance of leading pathways and open spaces for engagements. Metrics was especially important as there are varied jump heights and distances between classes and with most of the weapons being designed for close quarter combat, spaces that were too small would make navigating feel claustrophobic and difficult to play.
